Brothers and sisters
You may have a brother, a sister or both.
They might live at home with you or they might live somewhere else. They may be older or younger than yourself.
Another way of saying brothers and sisters is ‘siblings’, so if someone asks about your siblings, they mean your brothers and sisters.
Getting along
Sometimes it can be hard for you and your brothers and sisters if you have a disability. It is good to talk about this so that you can understand and help each other better.
If you would like some help getting on well with your brothers and sisters you can talk to a person you trust, like a teacher or a youth worker
You can do lots things with your brothers or sisters. You might:
- share your feelings, including the good and not so good things
- get advice from them
- ask them to speak up for you
- help them with something if they ask you to
- get them to explain things to you that you find hard to understand
- have fun and share things with them
- be their best friend… or maybe not
- argue or even fight!
