Healthy eating
Get it right
You are what you eat! That’s why it is really important to know about what you eat and drink.
Healthy eating does not mean saying ‘no’ to all the foods you like – you just need to know which foods are good for you and which are bad for you.
Junk food
Eating lots of junk food like burgers and chips and sugary stuff like chocolate, sweets and cakes is not good for your mind or your body. Eating a little of them is fine as a treat but you should not eat too much.
Young people need energy to stay healthy and eating the right foods will help.
What is the right food?
You should be eating 5 portions of fruit or vegetables every day. Here are some examples but you can probably think of loads more.
- apples
- oranges
- bananas
- kiwi fruit
- grapes
- carrots
- peas
- broccoli
- sweetcorn
- mushrooms
Why not try counting how many portions of fruit and vegetables you ate yesterday to get an idea of whether you are eating enough?
